Carolyn Driedger is a hydrologist and outreach coordinator at the US Geological Survey (USGS) Cascades Volcano Observatory. Her principal scientific interests are glaciers on volcanoes and related hazards. Carolyn witnessed the catastrophic eruption of Mount St. Helens on May 18th, 1980 and took part in the geological and media response. This deepened her interest in public education about volcanoes. Since 1995, Carolyn has spearheaded an effort to inform public officials, educators, and the public about volcano-related hazards in the Cascades.
