Angie is a geologist with the USAID-USGS Volcano Disaster Assistance Program at the Cascades Volcano Observatory. Her research focuses on image analysis techniques to monitor active volcanoes, specifically photogrammetry; a technique that uses photos to create 3D models. During eruption responses in the US and abroad, she uses photogrammetry to measure the amount and rate of lava being erupted for rapid hazard assessment and mitigation. In addition, she works on hazard communication and volcanic risk and vulnerability. She works with volcano observatories in many different countries, including Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, Mexico, and others. Angie has been working at Mount St. Helens since 2003 and is excited to share her favorite volcano with GeoGirls!
