Alisa is a fourth year doctoral student studying Igneous Petrology at Oregon State University. Their research focuses on examining minerals erupted from volcanoes existing on the ocean floor using a microscope to better understand their crystallization and emplacement histories. Not only do these minerals tell an interesting tale of their path through the oceanic crust, they are also enchanting to observe through the lens of the scope! Outside of their graduate work, they enjoy hiking and camping, traveling around the PNW, cooking, and playing sports.
