Madison Myers is currently finishing up her Ph.D. in Geological Sciences at the University of Oregon. Her research focus is on reconstructing the processes and timescales that lead up to explosive eruptions. For her dissertation she studied the initial fall deposits of three caldera forming eruptions (Huckleberry Ridge, Yellowstone; Bishop, CA; Oruanui, Taupo NZ) that preserve contrasting behaviors at their onsets to determine what triggers these voluminous eruptions, and over what timescales. Outside of her passion for volcanoes, Madison enjoys hiking, being outdoors, biking, mentoring students, crossword puzzles and being near the ocean.
