Christine Colasurdo is the author of "Return to Spirit Lake: Life and Landscape at Mount St. Helens." She lived and worked at Spirit Lake before the eruption. She grew up camping with her family at Spirit Lake, and her family also had a cabin near the North Fork of the Toutle River that is now buried under an estimated 600 feet of former mountaintop. She worked at Harmony Falls Lodge the summer of 1979. A native Oregonian, she teaches creative writing as well as calligraphy at the Multnomah Arts Center in Portland, OR. She is working on a second book about Mount St. Helens.
