Sarah is excited to be working at Mount St. Helens this summer for the first time. Originally from Wisconsin, she grew up taking frequent boating and camping trips and with science discussions around the dinner table. She gained a passion for science, which through the encouragement of a fantastic high school teacher developed into a focus on earth sciences. Sarah just received her bachelor's degree from Macalester College (St. Paul, MN), where she majored in geology. At Macalester, she worked on wide range of eclectic projects including research on ultra-high pressure rocks from Norway, trash collection, fluorescent lignins and representation in the geosciences. Through many semesters of being a teaching assistant, she became interested in education, specifically in the areas of geoscience literacy and science education. When she has free time, she enjoys playing guitar, crochetting, biking, and going on the occasional geocaching trip. Sarah is excited to be somewhere where winters are warmer and the rocks aren't all sandstone!
