The Science and Learning Center (SLC) has been busier than ever this summer with youth education, rentals, camps, and special events!
Since the season kicked off with the NOLS Wilderness First Aid training in April, the building has been in use 75% of all available days, some days having multiple programs. Our amazing education and facilities teams, and education volunteers, have stepped up to ensure high-quality programming and a memorable experience for everyone.
Our 2018 Rental and Events Host, Lee Lounder, has made much of this possible by keeping our guests happy and well-fed, taking the lead on planning our public events, and being a great team member. Lee recently graduated from the Evergreen State College in Olympia with a Bachelor of Arts with Emphasis in Religion, Archaeology, and History. Lee is both an adventurer and great storyteller. If you get the chance to meet her, ask her about growing in in El Paso, archeological digs in Turkey, leading a team of FEMA Corps AmeriCorps members on work projects around the US, or her recent experience starring in the real life version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
Upcoming Events at SLC
We invite you to join us for the Sky and Star Party (Saturday, August 4) and our Family Adventure Camp (Sat-Sun, August 11 & 12)!
