Matt is in his third year with the Institute, serving as a Lead Guide and Camp Host.  Matt moved around quite a bit as a child before settling in Portland for good in 2000. The Pacific Northwest has been the perfect place to nurture his interests in both the outdoors and the culinary world. He has run numerous ultra-marathons and enjoys baking sourdough bread. Mt. St. Helens is particularly special because his wife proposed to him on the volcano. Matt also cares deeply for social justice and volunteers his time to activism whenever he can.
