The mountain is a window
open
on the moment of creation.
From it ragged skirts
a fresh and hungry world unfurls.
Sinuous canyons, brushy slopes
and high windy ridges—
where we
for the moment
enter into its story.
The view from here is more powerful,
daunting, yet flush with hope
for this damaged earth
than anyone dared imagine.
