Education

Teachers

Education lies at the very core of the Institute’s mission. If you’re a teacher interested in volcanism, we can help you. In partnership with the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, we have developed many resources for teachers of elementary, middle-school, and high-school students. In the Teacher’s Corner of the Monument’s website, you’ll find lesson plans, field-trip itineraries, an online library, and more. If you’re planning a field trip to Mount St. Helens, be sure to register online with the Monument.

The Institute also offers Volcano Explorers and Volcano After Dark, aimed at students, from elementary-age to older youths. And many of our field seminars offer clock hours for teachers. If you’re interested in receiving clock hours for a seminar, contact Ray Yurkewycz at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) before registering.
