Instructor Bios

Elise Larsen

Elise Larsen is a bird ecologist with a Master’s degree in Biology from the College of William & Mary.  She is currently studying the recovery of the bird community at Mount St. Helens as part of her Ph.D. research at the University of Maryland.  Though her home is in the Washington D.C. area, Elise spends 2-3 months each summer at Mount St. Helens, conducting field research.  She also performs research in theoretical population ecology and field work with penguins on the Antarctic Peninsula.  Previously, Elise has studied contaminants in birds with the U.S. Geological Survey and the American Bird Conservancy.
