Education

Mount St. Helens is an educational paradise. With every rock and tree there is something surprising to learn. In this volcanic landscape, the earth is like layers of cake, forests are destroyed and recreated over millennia, and scientists have discovered new things that have required textbooks to be rewritten. It’s a place of wonder and mystery where every day nature is either building up or tearing down—and the volcano stands at the center of it all.

Educating the public about the volcano is one of the main goals of the Mount St. Helens Institute. We’re here to help you learn—whether you’re an elementary student, an adult with a passion for the outdoors, or a retired couple ready for an adventure. We offer:

Field Seminars
Volcano Views & Brews Lectures
Volcano After Dark
Volcano Explorers
College Internships
Teacher Workshops
