We have offices in Vancouver and Chelatchie Prairie and work all over the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument. Our work is exciting, challenging and rewarding. Position Available: Program Assistant
The Mount St. Helens Institute is looking for a friendly, professional, self-motivated, creative thinker to join the Institute as a Programs Assistant. The Institute expects the position to grow as the Institute grows, the right candidate will support the growth of the organization and potentially shape the position as it develops. The Programs Assistant provides support to all of the Mount St. Helens Institute staff and programs and supports the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument Visitor Information Assistant. The program assistant is the Institute’s initial contact for the public, coordinates the Institute office, maintains donor and volunteer databases, processes merchandise, supports financial operations, supports marketing and outreach efforts and works to improve procedures, processes and systems. Position Available: Coldwater Coordinator
The Mount St. Helens Institute is looking for an outgoing, flexible, professional, self-motivated, creative thinker who is knowledgeable about event and facilities management, staff and volunteer supervision, marketing and is comfortable conducting community outreach. The Institute is hiring a seasonal program coordinator for the Science and Learning Center at Coldwater Ridge. The individual hired for this position will work closely with the US Forest Service Staff to develop, promote and coordinate programming and volunteers at the Science and Learning Center at Coldwater Ridge and nearby Johnston Ridge Observatory with the goal of creating a sustainable operation at the Coldwater facility. The Coldwater Coordinator will work closely with US Forest Service and the Cowlitz County Economic Development Council to develop relationships, recruit volunteers in surrounding communities and in particular increase Cowlitz, Lewis, Pierce and Thurston communities’ participation in Mount St. Helens events, programs, recreation and stewardship.
