Fireside Chats
The Mount St. Helens Institute provides a series of Friday and Saturday evening campfire programs for climbers during the summer at Climber’s Bivouac. Fireside Chats are presentations by MSHI Volcano Volunteers and Mountain Stewards. The presentations give climbers a sense of the scientific discoveries being made at Mount St. Helens, the logistics of the climb, and some safety tips.
Topics include the pre-eruption landscape, biological recovery, wildlife, the lava dome and the current eruption, and climbing safety. Presenters also field questions from climbers. We are very excited about providing this educational opportunity to climbers, and we hope that you will join us for a fun and informative evening this summer! The Fireside chat schedule will be posted on this site in early June. For more information call 360-449-7887.
